Abiskojaure to Alesjaure: 21 kms / 5 hours of trekking
Our brilliant team have completed the second day of the KMF Arctic trek, travelling from Abiskojaure to Alesjaure.
Trekking for 5 hours they have travelled 21kms, following the Kama River west before crossing over to the Alis Valley and picking up the Ales Lake for 5km. At the end of their second day they have completed 35 kms of the 116 km total and continue to fend for themselves in basic mountain hut accommodation.
However, it's not all hard work. Tonight the trekkers will have the opportunity to partake in a great Arctic tradition, a visit to the Sauna. In the outer sanctum of their accommodation there are great vessels of hot water for washing. The team will head here before taking to the sauna, followed by a roll in the snow. Not only is this a must-do Scandinavian experience but it also aids the trekkers in the rest of the trip by providing excellent circulation and muscle recovery benefits!
The team has now lost all forms of communication, verbal and electronic, and will have no access to the internet. This means that from today, the team will have no access to social media and will be unable to track their fundraising total. Let’s surprise them by making sure that the next time they tune in, they have reached their amazing fundraising target of £100K!! (Donation link below).Donate Now
