It’s very hard to train for the motion of Nordic cross country skiing, it uses muscles that you didn’t know existed, so everyone has prepared in different ways.

All of the team have been taking the opportunity to improve their personal fitness, but have also met a number of times as a large group and walked over 100 miles with back packs weighing 15kgs the equivalent of what they will be carrying on the Arctic Trek,

Mitch, Rod, Emma, Chris and Jay also used the opportunity to practice the cross skiing technique with a long weekend in France that they hope will be invaluable.

What is difficult to train for is the Mental challenge, when you are physically tired and you have to get up every day almost certainly aching and tired, it’s difficult to see the bright side of life!!

During the Trek, the lack of communication with the each other and the outside world is very difficult to cope with mentally. You just can’t train for that!!
